My Story

My intense fascination and curiosity of the human body was ignited for me at the age of 14 when I had the good fortune of befriending a woman who became very involved in the sport of body building. In a short period of just 1 year I watched in amazement as this young woman’s body transformed and completely reinvented itself right before my eyes.

About Quote by Nichola Burnett

This experience baffled my mind and awakened a passion in me that has only intensified as I continue to study and learn as much as I can about the miraculous and mysterious thing I refer to as the 8th wonder of the world…….”the human body”. This experience exhilarated and motivated me to such a great extent that I decided to pursue a degree in the field of health, wellness, and dietetics. In 1995 I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Science from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and then moved on to complete a dietetic internship program through the University of Nevada, Reno. I obtained my national certification as a Registered Dietitian in 1998.

I have spent 23 years working in various capacities in the field of health and wellness as a nutritional consultant, personal trainer, yoga instructor, and Registered Dietician. I spent 10 years working in allopathic medical facilities (hospitals) working with a myriad of patient populations to include CCU (Cardiac Care Unit), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Medical/Surgical, Trauma, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Rehabilitation. Over these 10 years I became deeply disenchanted with the current healthcare system based on what I witnessed in the facilities and due to the fact that Western medicine was unable to provide any assistance to me with my own health issues. These experiences blessed me with an intense motivation to investigate alternative modalities/therapies which I did and have never stopped.

Over the past decade I have aggressively pursued studies in a variety of natural medicine arenas and obtained certifications in many alternative therapies to include yoga, energy medicine, functional medicine, herbalogy, essential oils, colonics, and a variety of bodywork therapies (watsu, breema, reflexology). Through all of my studies, trainings, and experiences I was able to gift myself with the greatest blessing of all; the resolve of my own health issues and the ability to assist others with theirs.

Currently I spend my time seeing clients in my private consulting practice and touring/lecturing on health, wellness, and natural/energy medicine.

Practice Philosophy

True healing requires the root cause of the issue to be addressed; not just the management of symptoms. To do this mandates a mind-body-spirit approach which requires attention be paid to all aspects of self: intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical.

This is why Western Medicine’s approach is ineffective; it totally disregards the mind/body/spirit connection. Most of us have all been taught at a very young age that healing is purely a physical body experience; attention is placed ONLY on physical symptom expression. Nothing could be further from the truth.

We are also taught at a very young age that we do not have the ability to heal ourselves and that healing involves giving our power away to someone else. Do we need proper support and guidance to assist us in the process of healing? We all do in some capacity but not to the degree to which we have been led to believe in my opinion.

It is a very different concept to retrain ourselves to the understanding that it is our responsibility to heal and serve ourselves – to learn how to take back our power – and to be hands on and proactive when making very personal decisions about what we need and what that looks like around our own healing. This is the core philosophy and approach one can expect when working with me.
